Attending the 12 day training program (over 12 months), complete the assessments at your own pace (within 24 months) and you will be qualified and equipped to practice as a manager confidently.

The assessments are based on workplace activities and challenges. That means you will get valuable advice on leading your team in terms of relevant and practical feedback for your assessments.

Participants must complete 12 units of competency to achieve the qualification.

These 12 units comprise of 4 core units plus 8 elective units:

Core Units

BSBLDR401 : Communicate effectively as a workplace leader
BSBLDR402 : Lead effective workplace relationships
BSBLDR403 : Lead team effectiveness
BSBMGT402 : Implement operational plan

Electives Group A (Compulsory)

BSBINN301 : Promote innovation in a team environment
BSBMGT403 : Implement continuous improvement
BSBWHS401 : Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements
BSBWOR404 : Develop work priorities

Electives Group B (Choose at least 3 Units)

BSBCMM401 : Make a presentation
BSBCUS401 : Coordinate implementation of customer service strategies
BSBLED401 : Develop teams and individuals
BSBMGT401 : Show leadership in the workplace
BSBPMG522 : Undertake project work

Electives (Optional)

BSBREL401 : Establish networks

  • Assessment of competency via worksheet tasks

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the course take to complete?

We deliver 12 training workshops over a period of 12 months, interspersed with assessment and workplace activities. Participants typically take around 16 months to complete all the program, but we will maintain your enrolment and access to resources for 2 years.

How much work is involved?

The Certificate IV in Leadership and Management is considered to be 580 nominal hours of work, but this will vary widely depending on your pre-existing skill and knowledge, and is also impacted by the extent to which you can use your current work outputs to fulfil the requirements of the assessments.

Do I need to have an existing qualification?

No, not at all. It helps if you have some experience working in a supervisory role, or you are moving into a role that will give you that exposure.

What sort of job roles does this course suit?

Anyone in a team leader or supervisory role, or who is planning to move into such a role, or wants to grow their leadership capability within their organisation.

Can this help me with credit in a University Course?

Not normally – we would suggest that you go on to complete you Diploma of Leadership and Management or talk to your prospective University entrance officers for specific advice.
